How does miraDry® work?
The procedure is done in our office and involves applying the miraDry® handpiece to multiple areas. The handpiece delivers controlled electromagnetic energy to the region where the underarm sweat glands are located. This heats the sweat glands which are eliminated for good.

How long does this procedure take?
Each miraDry® procedure takes about two hours.

Is miraDry® painful?
Most people report mild to moderate discomfort, but to alleviate any discomfort you will receive local anesthesia to the underarm area. We also include two underarm lymphatic drainage massages for the two following days.

What is recovery like with miraDry®?
Immediately following the miraDry® procedure, we recommend an over-the-counter pain reliever and ice. There may also be some localized pain and swelling, but that goes away within a few weeks following the procedure. You can return to work immediately with exercise following within a few days.

When will I see results from miraDry®?
You should see a reduction in sweat immediately. Clinical studies show that the average sweat reduction is 86%. Most patients will see results after just one to two miraDry treatment sessions. As with any procedure, results always vary from patient to patient.

Is miraDry® a safe procedure?
Yes – miraDry® is a very safe, non-invasive procedure. Even though it eliminates sweat glands, it does not affect the body’s ability to cool itself. The human body has more than four million sweat glands and only two percent are in the underarms.

How Does miraDry Compare to BOTOX for Stopping Underarm Sweat?
Both BOTOX and miraDry are FDA-approved to reduce underarm sweating and are safe and effective when administered by a qualified provider. However, there are a few key differences:

BOTOX’s effects are temporary, lasting up to 3 months, while miraDry results will last for many years.
